Gases all around us

We wanted to find out how much air there was inside the different sponges. By squeezing out the air and replacing it with water we could measure how much it could hold.

Then we tried to find out if air had weight so we put a ballon full of air on one side of the balance and an empty balloon on the other. This proved that air is matter and has weight.

Air is forced into the balloon under pressure, so it will be denser than the surrounding air - more particles will be squeezed in than the particles in the sme volume of air outside the balloon!
