Light and Colour

In science this half term we have been investigating sight, light and colour.
We wanted to disperse white light so we could see the individual colours of the spectrum...
We tried refracting light with prisms, we tried spraying water droplets in the sunshine and we even dropped nail varnish into water to see the colours...

But the best results we got were when we shone the light of a torch under a little plastic tray with bubble solution in. We blew a bubble and then viewed the swirling colours and patterns that were created. It was quite mesmerising!

Experiment to test our lung capacity

Fill the bottle with water.

Turn it upside-down in the tub and carefully insert the tube.

Take a deep breath...

How much water can you force out of the bottle in one puff?

More than we expected!

We needed to put a scale up the side of the bottle so we could find out how much water was left in the bottle.

Being archaeologists for the morning

We dug up the garden looking for evidence.
We had to be careful, methodical and patient...

Greek Pots

We made these posts using papier mache. We decorated them with images from Greek Myths. Don't they look brilliant?
