Starburst fractions

We have been working really hard to understand the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages. We are getting pretty good at recognising and working out equivalence. We practised our skills with this activity.

There were 48 in the big bag. What percentage of them were orange?

8 children on the table what percentage prefer red?
The children came up with their own questions...

We explored ways to represent the answers.

We had 12 in our packet what fraction/percentage of them were red?

33%

Add all the sweets together. That made 96. Not easy to change to percentage. So Mrs Stanley gave us 4 more. That's easier.
FINALLY we were allowed to eat them!

Orienteering at Wymondham College

Just before half term we all went to Wymondham College to take part in the annual Orienteering competition. It was a bit chilly but A LOT of fun. Some of us found out that we were quite good at following maps and some of us found out it was QUITE HARD! Top runners were JOSEPH TYLER AND HARRY GOYMOUR - well done chaps!
